WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: The RPN is responsible for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through application of specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing health needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. Follow the link for details: Hospital Services – St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital WHAT YOU MUST HAVE: Registered Practical Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Registered Practical Nurse certificate or education and experience that allows the RPN to practice at full scope Current BLS Certification Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to acute medical nursing with the ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking skillset Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record) Capability to administer medication inclusive of IV medication administration, with a physician’s order Ability to assess, adapt and respond within a constantly changing environment Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development Excellent attendance record in alignment with STEGH’s attendance policy Acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH’s mission, vision, values and code of conduct WHAT WE PREFER YOU HAVE: One (1) year of Emergency Department or high-acuity nursing experience within the last three (3) years Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) with Canadian Nurses Association Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Canadian Triage and Acuity Score (CTAS) ACLS Certification (willingness to obtain before employment start date is required) HOURS: The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department in accordance with the availability and non-availability requirements outlined in the OPSEU Service Collective Agreement. Requirements

Candidates must be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold current BLS certification. Preference is given to those with at least one year of emergency or high-acuity nursing experience and relevant certifications like CEN, ENPC, or TNCC.
