Position Overview SpectacoKids is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and child-focused Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to support the delivery of individualized occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist. The OTA will implement assigned components of occupational therapy treatment plans, support children in developing functional and developmental skills, monitor and document client progress, and collaborate with the OT and multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, high-quality care. Key Responsibilities Implement assigned components of individualized occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate, and child-centred therapy activities. Support children in developing fine motor, gross motor, sensory, visual-motor, self-care, and functional skills. Assist children in developing skills related to activities of daily living, including dressing, feeding, toileting, grooming, and other functional routines as identified in the treatment plan. Implement sensory-motor and therapeutic activities as directed by the supervising OT. Prepare therapy materials, equipment, and activities based on individual client goals. Observe, monitor, and document client responses and progress during therapy sessions. Collect and record data as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Communicate observations, concerns, and client progress to the supervising OT. Support the implementation of home programs and strategies developed by the Occupational Therapist. Encourage skill development and generalization across therapy, home, school, and community environments. Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Analysts, Instructor Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Participate in team meetings and case discussions as appropriate. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and professional requirements. Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and families. Follow all SpectacoKids policies, procedures, privacy requirements, and safety protocols. Maintain professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality. Participate in training and professional development opportunities. Perform other related duties within the OTA's role, competence, and scope of responsibility. Client-Centred Care The successful candidate will: Build positive and trusting relationships with children and families. Use play-based and motivating approaches to engage children in therapy. Adapt activities appropriately to the child's developmental level and individual needs. Demonstrate patience, empathy, enthusiasm, and creativity. Support children's independence, participation, and confidence. Respect each child's individual strengths, communication style, preferences, and needs. Collaboration & Communication The OTA will work closely with the supervising Occupational Therapist and the broader multidisciplinary team. Effective communication is essential to ensure continuity of care and consistent implementation of treatment goals. The OTA is expected to promptly communicate relevant observations, changes in client presentation, safety concerns, or barriers to treatment to the supervising OT. Qualifications Completion of an Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) program or an equivalent recognized educational program. Experience working with children is considered an asset. Pediatric therapy or developmental disability experience is considered an asset. Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical environment is considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children and families. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to follow treatment plans and direction from a supervising Occupational Therapist. Current CPR/First Aid certification is an asset/required. Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to employment. Requirements
