JOB DESCRIPTION This role works with our fantastic Health Centre Team to support the physical and emotional health of the School’s students. Employment Type & Hours of Work: Casual, On Call. This position requires flexible availability, as shifts will vary depending on the needs of the Health Centre, and will include some on-call and short-notice work. Shifts could be scheduled on weekdays, weekends, early mornings, mid-day, or later evenings. Position Start Date: Ideal start in September 2026, though a later start may be considered. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Head of Health Centre, the responsibilities of the Registered Nurse – Casual include: Assessing symptoms, administering medications, assessing and treating injuries, and directing follow up Educating and informing students about nutrition and self-care, managing medications, and disease prevention Providing healthcare services to students throughout the day, managing students who are unable to attend class and communicating with teachers, house directors and coaches Administering first aid and care of all students and staff Managing student medications Ensuring first aid kits for teams and away trips are stocked and available to sign out Maintaining the Health Centre, ensuring an attractive, hygienic, suitably equipped space Contacting parents, as needed, regarding significant medical concerns Ensuring House Directors are provided with a list of updated student health concerns Being available to staff leading school trips to offer advice and information Managing student appointments within both Shawnigan Lake School and external health and medical centres and coordinating with transportation to ensure students arrive at their various health and medical appointments Informing students about student resources available through the Health Centre Immunizing children against vaccine preventable disease Providing support and care for a range of mental health issues REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience & Skills Graduate from an approved School of Nursing Current practicing registration and criminal record check as required of a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Minimum three years experience as a registered nurse preferred Valid and Current CPR-C Pediatric and/or Emergency Room experience strongly preferred Completion of BCCDC Immunization Competency Course Tact and confidentiality in dealing with all matters Independent but with the ability to work as part of a team Flexibility in approach to people and to working arrangements Able to respond calmly, quickly and willingly to urgent and unexpected requests Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills HOW TO APPLY To apply, please submit a copy of your resume/CV and cover letter to the attention of Kathy Coghlan, Head of Health Centre. Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing with current BCCNM registration and at least three years of experience. A valid CPR-C certification and completion of the BCCDC Immunization Competency Course are also required.
