Education: Graduate of an accredited university program of Occupational Therapy Master degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred. Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and membership with the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists. Formal training in CBT/DBT/Solution focused /family Therapy/Supportive counselling would be considered an asset. MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment Certification Experience: Previous related mental health experience with acute and chronic populations using best practices modalities for groups and individuals. Sound knowledge and understanding of psychiatric illnesses, personality development and dynamics of human behaviour. Experience with principles of risk management and de-escalation techniques. Previous experience with the geriatric/aging population Working knowledge of mental health community resources Competencies: Ability to function co-operatively as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, sound clinical judgement, tact and initiative Cultural sensitivity, emotional maturity, flexibility and patience are essential
What you’ll do
Provide occupational therapy services to mental health and addiction patients through individual and group therapy to support recovery. Conduct standardized assessments of cognitive, functional living, and mental status skills.
Requirements
Requires a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Candidates should have experience with acute and chronic mental health populations and knowledge of psychiatric illnesses.
