Utilizing the principles of the nursing process and in collaboration with the RN and members of the clinical team, the RPN can provide care to patients with more complex needs within his/her level of competence. The RPN, as a member of the clinical team, contributes to the patient’s journey toward maximum independence and wellness. Skills And Qualifications Required Current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse Must have recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting. Must have current CPR certification Position Responsibilities Completing a nursing history based on information received from the patient, family and other sources. Developing and recording a goal oriented nursing care plan focused on immediate needs in collaboration with the patient. Performing interventions for which he/she can manage the outcomes or has resources to manage the outcomes. Accurately following the prescribed medical regime Re-assessing the plan in terms of goals set. Recognizes unusual patient responses and consults with others as required.
