Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan (U of S), Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery seek a Cardiac Surgeon with clinical and academic interests. The Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada qualified cardiac surgeon to join a busy three member surgical team at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Canada. Collective responsibilities include CCA and N/P supported clinical care of inpatients and outpatients, as well undergraduate teaching and training of postgraduate trainees.

Position Profile
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive skills in all aspects of general adult cardiac surgery preferably with complementary fellowship training in Minimal Access Surgery and TAVI/TEVAR. We are looking for a fully qualified surgeon able to independently and seamlessly step into a busy cardiac surgical practice well supported by cardiac anaesthesiologists, clinical perfusion staff, excellent nursing staff and specialized surgical assistants. Further specialized training in Hybrid Cardiac Surgery and Critical Care would be a significant advantage. Affiliation with the University Of Saskatchewan College Of Medicine will provide the successful applicant ample time for research and academic pursuits.

Compensation details
Competitive remuneration via contractual Alternative Funding Plan (AFP) model.

Job Qualifications

Candidates in consideration will hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College)certification in Cardiac Surgery and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). .

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to become a member of Practitioner Staff and provide care in Saskatchewan Health Authority facilities.
