The unique role of Registered Nurse to fulfill staffing needs in Hospital and Long-term care settings throughout Saskatchewan.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide patient-centered care in alignment with nursing practice standards/scope of practice outlined by the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan;
  • Adhere to the current policies and procedures outlined by the facility/hospital setting and Canadian Health Labs;
  • Arrange and/or provide patient care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counselling, and health teaching;
  • Develop and review nursing care plans that are individualized to each patient;
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of multidisciplinary care plan to meet the individualized needs and provide nursing interventions for patients;
  • Incorporate a holistic comprehensive model of care to recognize the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of patients;
  • Medication Administration (IV/IM/SC/Inhalation/Transdermal) and are familiar with high risk/high alert drugs or critical care infusions (ER/ICU/CCU/PACU);
  • Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions;
  • Utilize medical equipment or apparatus;
  • Provide patient and family-centered education, counseling and health promotion;
  • Work collaboratively with the entire multidisciplinary health care team (physicians, NP’s, social workers etc), as well as provide oversight and delegate tasks to RPN/LPN’s, PSWs; and
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients, family and staff members.

 

 

Role requirements:

  • Education: Successful completion of university, college or other approved registered nursing program
  • Licensure: Registration and licensing with provincial nurses regulatory body, as required
  • Experience: At least 1,125 hours’ experience within past five years or 400 hours’ experience within the past two years. Work experience must be in community healthcare, hospital or long-term Care facility.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, concern resolution process and customer service;
    • Ability to work independently and part of a team;
    • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient-centered care;
    • Ability to problem solve through critical thinking and self-education;
    • Enthusiastic attitude and energy to provide excellent care and the ability to show demonstrate patience, sensitivity, and creativity;
    • Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift; and
    • Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 20 kilograms).

    • Valid criminal record and vulnerable person record check; and
    • Covid Vaccination records (minimum of 2 doses).

 

Wage: Range between $47.37-$49.90/hour dependent on experience, education, language ability and additional factors as negotiated on hiring.
