Job Description/Duties:

The Windsor Cardiac Centre is pleased to announce that it is hiring a full time Cardiovascular Technician to join our workforce.

We are looking for a motivated, hard working technician, eager to work in our 24/7 real time cardiac monitoring department to operate electrocardiogram and other medical imaging technology to record, monitor, test, and inform cardiologists of patients' cardiac activity.

The successful candidate must have a good command of the English language, be a team player, have excellent communication skills and very high customer skills, and be available to work a flexible work schedule, including irregular and holiday shifts.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate electrocardiogram and other electronic equipment or software, such as GEMS, Scottcare, C2000 Holter analysis and PocketECG solutions to record cardiac activity of patients.
  • Good command of outpatient scanning and monitoring systems, including outpatient hook up, trouble shooting, and report analysis.
  • Interpret electrocardiogram results with special attention to complex, urgent arrhythmias.
  • Ability to interpret, edit, analyze heart monitor reports, including implanted electronic devices, and appropriately notify the respective physicians with abnormalities for urgent cases.
  • Provide preliminary reports of cardiac activity tests for cardiologists.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and software by performing routine maintenance checks and reprogram pacemakers according to required standards.
  • May administer certain drugs under direct supervision of physician
  • Perform non-invasive cardiovascular procedures and tests, such as electrocardiograms, exercise tolerance tests, ambulatory monitoring and scanning of tapes, holter arrhythmia scanning, pacemaker analysis and follow-up
  • Provide patients with care during procedures and tests
  • May document and record pacemaker implant threshold measurements under direct supervision of cardiac surgeon

Qualifications/Education:

  • Two-year college diploma in cardiology technology and supervised practical training.
  • Registration with Canadian Society of Cardiology Technicians.

Applicants must possess a work history that highlights the following combination of skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in dealing with patients needing heart monitors.
  • Attendance of an ECG interpretation and specially more complex/urgent arrhythmias and those from patients with cardiac implanted electronic devices.
  • Ability to interpret, edit, analyze heart monitor reports and appropriately notify the respective physicians with abnormalities for urgent cases.
  • Good command of the following outpatient scanning and monitoring systems, including outpatient hook up, trouble shooting, report analysis:
  1. PocketECG solutions.
  2. GEMS solutions.
  3. Scottcare cardiovascular solutions.
  4. C2000 Holter analysis.

Language: English

Wages:  $25.00/hour at 30 hours/week. Annual salary: $39,000.

Benefits: Extended drug and dental benefits after three months' employment.
