About us

Working for the Canterbury District Health Board - working for the Community. At its core, our vision is dependent on achieving a truly collaborative, 'whole of system' approach where everyone in the health system works together to do the right thing for the patient and the right thing for the system and our community as a whole.

About the role

We have a rare opportunity that has become available due to a retirement for an experienced Manager to take the lead in our Clinical Technologies area. This role oversees a diverse range of services that provide support services not only across the CDHB sites but also stretch to include the wider healthcare community here in Canterbury and across the West Coast.

We are looking for the best person to lead these services rather than the best person for our position description. As long as you meet the basic criteria we would love to hear what you would be able to bring to this service, please outline how you see your skills and experience benefiting our Clinical Technologies Team.

This role will see you having responsibility for just under 100 staff spread across four different departments including: Clinical Engineering, Sterile Services, Medical Illustrations and Mobility Services.

You will also be a key liaison point within the wider organisation providing a pivotal link between clinicians and operations personnel. You will ensure functional, cost effective and timely solutions are provided to clinicians that respond to the practicalities of our varying sites, the needs of the services and in all this keeping the patient outcomes at the forefront.

We are undergoing a significant building and commissioning program for our health care facilities as well as transforming to a digital data driven health system – this is a role that is pivotal to our success.

Skills and experience

To be suitable for this position you will have:

  • proven experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • extensive management skills, ideally supported by a tertiary qualification
  • a tertiary qualification in a technical discipline.

Our culture

  • Care and respect for others. Manaaki me te whakaute i te tangata
  • Integrity in all we do. Hāpai i ā mātou mahi katoa i runga i te pono
  • Responsibility for outcomes. Te Takohanga i ngā hua.

  • Something For You is an employee benefits programme available to all staff of the CDHB. CDHB staff are entitled to preferential rates at a wide selection of partners either on a permanent basis or at exclusive events throughout the year. For both the things you need and the things you just want, as a CDHB employee you will be sure to enjoy being able to choose a little Something For You
  • We help you to construct your Professional Development Pathway out of the components that are best for you, resulting in better patient outcomes
