Position Title: Project Manager, CEPD
Unit: Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD)
Location: Sudbury or Thunder Bay
Term: Term Ending June 30, 2023

Reporting to the Director Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) and working closely with CEPD’s Assistant Deans, Faculty Development, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) as well as the Associate Dean, CEPD, the Project Manager, CEPD, will provide leadership, guidance, and project expertise in implementing multiple continuing professional development initiatives for NOSM’s clinical faculty.

Aligning with CEPD’s and NOSM University’s overarching strategic priorities and in particular, its newly established vision of faculty development at NOSM U; and, the successful candidate will lead and develop project charters, timelines, budget and identification of resource needs, measurement, and reporting tools for the successful launch of educational activities including foundational modules, workshops, and forums in both the online and face-to-face learning environments.


Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with CEPD leadership and team to lead the development of project charters, scope, timelines and sequencing of Faculty Development and Continuing Medical Education activities
  • Execute integrated project plans that meet the School’s strategic priorities of developing life-long learning to enhance CEPD, faculty development and outreach patient-education opportunities
  • Set project deadlines; monitor and report on project progress
  • Identify and manage project logistical and resourcing needs, including budgetary oversight for successful launch and support of education initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with NOSM’s Communications Unit to develop a marketing strategy for CEPD’s vision of faculty development and CME initiatives; creation of communication tools and messaging for sharing with internal and external partners
  • Support a social media strategy aligned with the Communications Unit and other external partners
  • Identify required staffing resources for project deliverables and indirectly supervise project teams in successful delivery of CPD initiatives
  • Promote and support compliance to governing CEPD standards and practices
  • Build strong relationships that enable successful collaboration with external partners as required
  • Represent the CEPD portfolio on various internal and external committees or meetings as required
  • Acts as a member of the Management Group at NOSM
  • Performs all other duties as assigned



  • An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Business or Education from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation is required.
  • A Master’s degree in one of the above areas is considered an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of five (5) years managerial experience, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Significant project management experience
  • Experience working in an education setting or healthcare/clinical environment is preferable.
  • Data analysis and application to quality improvement approaches to project evolution.
  • Experience in coaching and group facilitation will be an asset
  • Additional knowledge of strategic planning, change management and academic programs is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in working effectively at senior management levels to impact and influence decision making is required.
  • Curiosity and ability to collaborate in a complex and evolving environment
  • Sensitivity to social media marketing strategies and ability to communicate effectively using social media – particularly Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize and present information in a clear and concise way to a variety of audiences is required.
  • Demonstrated strategic, analytical, organization and planning skills. Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • Advanced computer skills including proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of website development and WordPress preferred


  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
  • French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
