Algonquin Orthodontics is excited to announce an opportunity for a  Level II Certified Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team in Huntsville. We are committed to delivering exceptional orthodontic care and patient experiences. We are looking for a proactive and skilled individual who is passionate about learning, is interested or skilled in orthodontics, has strong communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

In this role you will work with the orthodontist, the hygiene team, and work independently while facilitating a smooth patient experience.  Although we value previous orthodontic experience, we also welcome candidates with a keen interest in orthodontics and the motivation to learn on the job, and to accept external education travel and coursework. Key responsibilities will include assisting in direct and indirect bonding of braces and clear aligner attachments, appliance placement, and patient education. You will also learn to make digital scans of teeth, take impression, help manage sterilization of instruments, and expose radiographs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the orthodontist and hygienist during patient procedures and treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment for various orthodontic treatments.
  • Support in the placement and adjustment of fixed and removable appliances.
  • Take precise digital and photographic records for new and existing patients.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Manage patient records and documentation efficiently using PC based dental software.
  • Comply with safety and sterilization protocols in the practice.

Requirements:

  • Valid Level II Dental Assistant certification in Canada, with HARP certification for exposure of radiographs.
  • Previous experience in orthodontics is preferred but not essential for enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn.
  • Proficient in chairside assisting skills and familiarity with orthodontic procedures (having some experience is important).
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Comfortable using a PC and basic dental software (Ortho2 Edge) for record-keeping and patient management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a quick-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to providing outstanding patient care in a team environment.
