Work Requirement

This role will be based out of our Vancouver office and is full time onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and performs advanced experiments following established protocols.
  • Troubleshoots methods and suggests novel and impactful changes to methods.
  • Independently analyzes data using software including Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo and authors electronic lab notebook entries.
  • Independently interprets results, identifies and prioritizes next steps and presents findings to the team.
  • May design animal studies and co-ordinate activities with external contract research organizations.
  • Contributes to project planning, timeline projections and coordination of activities with other functional groups.
  • Seeks to understand ongoing projects through extensive attention to scientific literature and internally generated data.
  • Maintains inventory databases.
  • Reviews work of team members for thoroughness and completeness.
  • May train and/or supervise junior staff and co-op students.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, neat, organized and operational lab.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OH&S regulations and established policies and practices.
  • May co-author or author scientific papers.
  • Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships amongst employees, management, and external partners.

Education and Experience

  • Requires a BSc in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 5 years' related experience, or MSc and an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in inflammation and autoimmunity assays and mouse models will be an asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment.
  • Critical observation skills and strong statistical analysis capability.
  • Excellent oral, presentation and scientific/technical writing skills.

  • Flow cytometry
  • Immunophenotyping
  • Immune cell culture
  • Immune cell separation
  • ELISA/MSD
  • Reporter Gene Assays
  • Mammalian tissue culture
  • qPCR
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • General knowledge of antibody structure/function
  • General knowledge of inflammation
