The Licensed Practical Nurse, Ambulatory Clinic is engaged in the care and limited assessments of the ambulatory clinic patients. Assists physicians, cleans equipment, maintains order in examination room, maintains sufficient supplies, performs clerical duties, such as assembling patient charts, and other duties related to the provision of patient care and to efficient operation of the Ambulatory Clinic.


What you’ll do

  • Assess and identify patients’ needs using physiological, psychological, social-cultural and spiritual needs by performing duties such as completing a nursing history and performing a focus assessment.
  • Assist clinic physicians in the performance of various examinations, treatments, diagnostic procedures and minor surgical procedures by setting up instruments and supporting the patient (i.e.: chaperones during vaginal exams, collects specimens).
  • Delive and collaborate in planning and coordinating the nursing care of patients by documenting and updating information about the patient’s condition, reporting problems and/or potential problems to an RN and/or physician and providing teaching to patients as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and modification of individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the RN and input from the patient by performing duties such as formulating actual and potential patient problem lists, identifying short and long-term goals, providing input to the RN regarding prioritizing care, identifying nursing interventions, and evaluating and monitoring patient responses to nursing interventions.
  • Review and interpret the established nursing plan of care, communicates patient information such as abnormal results to appropriate members of the multidisciplinary health care team, provides nursing care and performs procedures such as dressing changes and medication administration (such as intramuscular injection) to assigned patients according to established policies and procedures, and the LPN scope of practice guidelines from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

What you bring

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

  • Deal with others effectively.
  • Operate related equipment.
  • Organize work.
  • Physically carry out the duties of the position.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Hours of work: Monday to Friday; 0830-1660

Wage: $28.43 to $32.98 per hour
