Reporting to the Manager of Relay For Life Youth (RFLY), Signature Programs, the Relay For Life Youth Coordinator will work as part of the national RFLY team to actively solicit new business opportunities throughout high schools to meet aggressive revenue targets for the Relay For Life Youth Program which is the fastest growing program at CCS. This role is responsible for revenue development in British Columbia. This role also demands significant travel to high schools for some weeks up to 3-4 days in the months from September to June with reduced travelling and more concentration on program development in the months from July to August. With the current COVID-19 situation, most recruitment and stewardship will be delivered remotely, resulting in much less travel for the time being.


  • Recruits new high schools to host Relay For Life event, trains and mentors existing schools to meet revenue goals.
  • Presents the program to potential schools, boards and youth groups to secure their support (which may include attending assemblies, presenting to staff/faculty, engaging in discussions over the phone, etc)
  • Supports and motivates student organizing committees involved with the program at various locations throughout British Columbia to meet participants and fundraising goals; attends committee meetings when necessary.
  • Provides ongoing training and guidance to high school staff advisor
  • Provides ongoing training and guidance to school organizing committees.
  • Attends student leadership conferences and leads student leadership workshops to secure new high schools to host Relay For Life.
  • Participates in planning and coordinating logistics and delivery of Relay University (training conference for student committees).
  • Implements strategies to help schools in marketing of their Relay For Life event.
  • Liaises with local Canadian Cancer Society offices and internal departments regarding the program.
  • Adheres to all administration procedures as required.
  • Oversees planning and coordinate logistics and delivery of training conferences
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, and complies with CCS’ Health & Safety Policy.
  • Other duties as required.


  • Related post-secondary education; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Two years’ fundraising and/or sales experience.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
  • Experience working with youth preferred; working with volunteers and working within the British Columbia educational system an asset.
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; including the ability to negotiate and influence others
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Cancer Society policies and procedures would be an asset.
  • Frequent travel required throughout British Columbia.
  • A Criminal Records Check is required.
