Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia Current basic CPR Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis Previous experience in gerontological nursing an asset Leadership /Charge experience preferred Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Good problem solving and decision-making skills Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting Knowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approach Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team Responsibilities Resident checks and rounds (including, but not limited to vitals, breathing, incontinent round, safety rounds, narcotic, charting) Medication administration (includes processing Doctor’s orders) Resident personal care (includes feeding/assistance, bowel care, dressing, wound care, blood work) Resident, family, and staff support (includes addressing questions and concerns, assisting other Northwood workers) General duties and administration (includes mail, paperwork, ordering supplies, assigning duties) Completes other tasks and duties as assigned Hours/Shifts: Full Time, Part Time, and Casual (Various shifts) Salary: As per the NSNU Collective Agreement Effective: Immediately If you are interested in applying for this career opportunity please click APPLY! Requirements
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited LPN program and registered in Nova Scotia with current CPR certification. Recent clinical experience in medication administration and leadership is required, with gerontological nursing experience considered an asset.
