Working as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced self-directed surgical care nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients. #### **QUALIFICATIONS:** #### **Education, Training And Experience** Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant; and Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit specific basis; or An equivalent combination of education and training. Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit specific basis. Basic Life Support, Level C #### **Skills And Abilities** - Apply nursing process as required and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice - Demonstrate sound organizational, problem solving, and teaching skills - Demonstrate sound judgement, observation and patient assessment skills - Demonstrate tact and empathy - Prioritize and organize patient demands made and care needs - Operate related equipment - Remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful and emergency situations - Work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team - Foster good public relations - Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing - Physically able to perform the duties of the position - Work independently, with limited supervision **Job Requirements:** https://jd.viha.ca/JD1865.pdf
