Job summary

As a member of the health care team, plans, develops, implements and evaluates education and development programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement and team skills. Facilitates and expedites continuous learning and professional development through coaching and/or mentoring of staff and clients. Facilitates appropriate coordination of resources to meet identified education and development needs. This position will have specific responsibility at Hamilton General Hospital – 7 West, including step-down, 7 South, and the Clot Retrieval Team. The Nurse Clinician will work as part of an education resource team also supporting central education programs 1. Baccalaureate level Nursing degree, Masters preferred 2. Current Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario 3. Minimum 3-5 years recent experience in an adult, critical care area 4. Minimum 1 year recent experience in the care of patients with aneurysm coils, carotid stents & vascular embolization 5. Minimum 1 year recent experience in the care of critical care and stepdown patients with cardiac monitors, femoral sheaths, CVP monitoring, ventricular drains, increased ICP management and PCA 6. Minimum 2 years of recent experience in adult education 7. Demonstrated proficiency in the mentoring and development of new staff 8. Evidence of ability to develop, conduct and evaluate educational programs to learners from a variety of health care disciplines 9. Demonstrated competencies in team building, organizational skills, leadership and presenting/managing change in a positive manner 10. Recent (within the last 2 years) demonstrated ability and experience as an educator developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating adult education programs 11. Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively with conflicting demands in a fast paced, complex environment 12. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills 13. Evidence of continuous commitment to ongoing education 14. Formal Simulation training or certification from a recognized organization (e.g., Simulation Canada) 15. Current BLS certification 16. Current ACLS certification preferred

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a current Registered Nurse certificate with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Applicants require 3-5 years of recent critical care experience and at least 2 years of experience in adult education.
