Job Description The RN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care. For Union Jobs, please refer to the collective agreement and provide the following additional information in the Job Description: Union Name: ONA Union Local: Kirkland Lake Union Classification (Title): RN as applicable Salary: RN Visit Rate Nursing Schedule: As per collective agreement Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required For both Non- Union and Union jobs, the below description will apply: Responsibilities 1) Ensuring resident / patient care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies 2) Assisting in the assessment and monitoring of residents / patients while working to develop, implement, review and evaluate resident/patient care plans 3) Managing and evaluating the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit, including orientations and other supervisory duties 4) Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals and referring problems to the Director of Care 5) Provide direction to the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care Qualifications 1) Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province 2) Registered/eligible for registration with the Approved Professional Institutions for the province 3) Previous similar experience in Community or long-term care, with comprehensive knowledge of duties 4) Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency 5) Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills 6) Developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the “big picture” Time Type: Part time At Extendicare, we’ve spent more than 50 years dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care homes across Canada.
