The School of Physiotherapy, within the Faculty of Health, has established the Dalhousie Physiotherapy Clinic to deliver exceptional physiotherapy services to Dalhousie’s students, athletes, faculty/staff and the general public utilizing an evidence-based treatment approach, creating innovative experiential learning opportunities for our students, and incorporating research-centered clinical practice. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Physiotherapist will deliver exceptional physiotherapy services to Dalhousie’s students, athletes, faculty/staff and the general public utilizing a client centered, evidence-informed treatment approach, while creating innovative experiential learning opportunities for our students, and incorporating research-centered clinical practice. Key Responsibilities Perform clinical assessments and implement individualized treatment plans for clients with injuries and issues of a sport, work-related or complex neuromusculoskeletal nature and provide ongoing evaluation of client progress. Communicate with appropriate referral sources and stakeholders regarding clinician services (e.g. billing, return-to-work/sport, etc.). Act as a clinical supervisor. Apply evidence-informed practice to provide clinical supervision to students on clinical placements and co-supervise (with School faculty) students on site visits. Play a key role in the development and delivery of the Dalhousie Athletic Trainers Program and the education of the trainers. Stay current with knowledge, trends and practices that are necessary to provide appropriate scope in assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and other applicable areas within the scope of professional practice. Demonstrate involvement with research opportunities in the context of the Dalhousie Physiotherapy Clinic. Contribute to the promotion and programming of the Dalhousie Physiotherapy Clinic within Dalhousie and the community. Requirements Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy or Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, with registration in the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator of Physiotherapy with a Practicing License, with minimum of two years’ related experience, including the treatment of sport-related injuries, is required. Must be eligible for membership in the Orthopaedic Division and Sport Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Assets Valid and current First Responders Course or equivalent. Experience working with Varsity Athletes, teams and coaches. Demonstrated interest in the AIM education system or has achieved a higher level in the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Current licence to practise or eligible for the same in Nova Scotia Additional Information Dalhousie University supports a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Requirements
Candidates must hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy with a valid Nova Scotia practicing license and at least two years of related experience. Eligibility for membership in the Orthopaedic and Sport Divisions of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is also required.
