Find out more about our work at www.cygnus.group The Opportunity The Senior Project Designer, Healthcare is a specialized role within Cygnus’ healthcare team. We are seeking a professional with direct experience planning and designing wayfinding systems for hospitals and health campuses. This role requires strong planning, design, and production experience to develop and oversee implementation of large signage and wayfinding programs for existing health campuses, new hospital development, hospital renovations, long-term care homes, and other healthcare adjacent facilities. Awareness of production techniques, materials, and finishes is expected. This role is expected to lead projects and collaborate with project teams throughout our four offices. General Responsibilities: Lead the successful delivery of multiple healthcare projects, playing a central role throughout all phases of project lifecycles, including needs assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation. Lead site assessments, patient and visitor needs assessments, and engagement activities within healthcare facilities. Lead location planning and mapping exercises for wayfinding programs for hospitals, long-term care homes and other health facilities. Design concepts for wayfinding and environmental graphics programs that support patient, visitor and staff navigation. Develop sign elevation drawings and spec materials and finishes for signage outcomes. Create and refine message schedules and construction packages Source and specify materials and products for signage and wayfinding applications. Manage and oversee vendors during fabrication and installation to ensure outcomes that uphold the integrity of the design intent. Represent Cygnus professionally while building strong client relationships and managing project budgets, schedules and expectations. Build and maintain relationships with healthcare clients, architects, and project stakeholders. Mentor junior team members by providing guidance, constructive feedback, and support for their professional development. Ideal Candidate Profile: 10+ years of direct experience working in healthcare focused wayfinding and signage. Degree/diploma from a recognized university or college in a design related field, such as graphic design, industrial design, or architecture. Excellent sense of visual and industrial design, creative thinking, and problem solving. Proven experience in a design role on mid to large scale initiatives. Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Ability to set and maintain project schedules and proactively make changes. Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in English and French. Working knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., AODA, CSA) and evidence-based design principles in healthcare. Software Experience: Proficiency in Mac OS & G Suite tools. Expert with Adobe Creative Suite. Competency in 3D rendering software, CAD, or Revit is an asset. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 CAD (commensurate with experience) Benefits: Health and dental benefits after a 3-month probationary period.
