Your Opportunity: Join our dynamic 27 stretcher Day Surgery Unit as a Registered Nurse, where you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, patient centered care. Our Surgical Day Ward (SDW) supports patients across a broad range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastics, orthopedics, and craniofacial procedures. In this fast paced and collaborative environment, you will perform comprehensive assessments, support pre operative preparation, and guide patients through their post operative recovery to ensure a safe transition home. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary operative teams, develop strong clinical judgment, and make a meaningful difference in each patient’s surgical experience. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications: Two years (within the last 2.5 years) surgical experience required. 2 years (within the last 2.5 years) critical care experience in ICU, emergency, PACU, or endoscopy. Preferred Qualifications: Day surgery and/or ambulatory connect care proficiency. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment. Able to deescalate tense situations. Committed to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of a Practical Nursing program with active registration with the CLHNA and BLS Level C certification. A minimum of two years of experience in both surgical and critical care (ICU, emergency, PACU, or endoscopy) within the last 2.5 years is required.
